Abstract
Changes such as increased patient acuity, shorter hospital stays, workplace reorganization, revision of the nursing role, and the development of home care services all contribute to high stress rates for health care workers. Research results on vitality are presented from three nursing professionals with backgrounds in education, psychotherapy, holistic nursing, and energy-based practice. Six key elements associated with vitality are described. The application of these principles by nursing leadership and the use of educational principles to create a vehicle for making this information to caregivers are described. The outcome, Vitality Training, is an effective approach that delineates methods for revitalizing and reawakening the ideals of the nursing profession and maintaining personal energy and enthusiasm.Entities:
