Indirect fundus biomicroscopy.

J G Flanagan1, C L Prokopich.

Abstract

Non-contact fundus biomicroscopy permits a stereoscopic, highly magnified examination of the ocular fundus and vitreous with a large field of view. It should be considered the standard clinical technique for stereoscopic examination of the posterior pole of the eye. Lens selection is dependent upon personal preference and magnification requirements, although the latter is also dependent upon the optics of the slit lamp. For many, the new SuperField NC is the lens of choice as it gives the largest field of view, has superior optical quality and gives reasonable magnification, equivalent to that of the 90 D lens.
