[Combined A- and B-scan echography of the eye (author's transl)].

F Bigar, C T Bosshard.

Abstract

The combined use of A- and B-scan echography gives far better diagnostic results than either one used alone. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages and each complements the other. A-scan echography provides more information about the structure of a lesion. B-scan is better in demonstrating the topography of a lesion. For A-scan echography the standardized unit 7200 MA Kretz-Technik is used; for B-scan the practical Bronson-Turner contact B-scan be used. Opaque media are the main indications for echography of the globe. However, echography is also indicated in the presence of clear media for the differential diagnosis of solid lesions.
