Rabies: risk, management, prophylaxis, and immunization.

.

Abstract

The management of persons who may have been exposed to rabies infection is important. An interpretation of both the risk of infection and the effectiveness of treatment is presented and a postexposure antirabies treatment guide included. These recommendations were established by the Public Health Service Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and incorporate many current concepts of the World Health Organization Expert Committee on Rabies.
