Abstract
We report on a 40-year-old male patient who developed an unusual generalized drug eruption taking the form of a histologically confirmed pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA) after oral intake of the H1-antagonist astemizole. On two occasions, independently repeated medication with astemizole exacerbated the typical rash again. Oral exposure and the specific lymphocyte transformation test confirmed the suspected causal connection between astemizole and PLEVA.Entities:
