Update: investigations of persons treated by HIV-infected health-care workers--United States.

.

Abstract

Previous reports have described transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) to five persons (patients A, B, C, E, and G) during receipt of care from an HIV-infected dentist in Florida and other investigations of patients who were treated by HIV-infected health-care workers (HCWs). This report updates these investigations and presents evidence that a sixth patient (patient I) became infected with HIV while receiving care at the Florida dental practice, the only practice in which HIV transmission from an infected HCW to patients has been documented.
