Abstract
The technology used in cardiotocographs limits the basic resolution of the recorded data. The limitations and errors generated by the data collection, signal processing (autocorrelation) and printing the fetal heart rate (FHR) are discussed. Although adequate for displaying baseline variability, present-day cardiotocographs are incapable of displaying beat-to-beat changes in FHR.Mesh:
