Abstract
The entire 1766 bases of the 18S rRNA gene of Strongyloides stercoralis have been sequenced. The gene has a 38% G+C content. Although it is similar in length to the 18S rRNA gene of Caenorhabditis elegans, the only other completely sequenced nematode 18S rRNA gene, it is only 69% identical. Closely related helminths will need to be sequenced in order to delineate sequences specific for the diagnosis of strongyloidiasis.Entities:
