Primary ovarian melanoma arising in a dermoid stage IIIc: long-term disease-free survival with aggressive surgery and platinum therapy.

Abstract

A 20-year-old female with a primary melanoma of the ovary arising from a mature cystic teratoma presented with bulky peritoneal metastases. Following aggressive surgical resection and platinum-based chemotherapy the patient remains disease-free 5 years following diagnosis.
