Abstract
A new gene, gtp1, has been identified by sequence analysis in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. The open reading frame was identified downstream from the stf1 locus. The deduced GTP1 protein has strong sequence similarity to a family of putative GTP-binding proteins from Halobacterium cutirubrum, Bacillus subtilis, Drosophila melanogaster and mouse. The conserved P-loop phosphate-binding motif places gtp1 in a family separate from previously described groups of such proteins.Entities:
