Abstract
Hepatitis E seems to be responsible for most epidemics of non-A, non-B hepatitis in developing countries. While hepatitis E is not endemic in the United States, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of the traveler with non-A, non-B hepatitis. We describe a patient with acute hepatitis E, confirmed by serologic testing, after recently returning from India and discuss current knowledge about the pathogenesis, clinical features, and diagnosis of hepatitis E.Entities:
