Abstract
The authors report a case of an ovarian abscess presenting as acute sciatica with pyrexia in a 36-years-old woman with an intrauterine contraceptive device. Imaging (plain X-ray of abdomen and CT scan) was clear-cut, showing an air pocket as a result of abscess formation and dental calcifications which enabled a preoperative diagnosis of dermoid cyst. The outcome was successful following appropriate surgical treatment and unilateral tubo-oophorectomy.Entities:
