Review: abuse of elderly people in the domestic setting: a UK perspective.

C McCreadie1, A Tinker.

Abstract

Interest in, and concern about, the abuse of elderly people is growing rapidly. A study of the literature shows little research in the UK, but valuable indicators about risk factors and interventions from North America. One of the major problems has been definition and this paper distinguishes between different kinds of abuse. Conclusions are drawn about future research, and about the importance of records, assessment and multidisciplinary working, as well as the prevention of abuse.
