Abstract
We have reported an unusual cause of disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC) in a patient with multiple injuries from blunt trauma. The source of continued hemorrhage remained elusive despite laparotomy and thoracotomy. Bleeding appeared to resolve only after discovery and treatment of infection due to Salmonella enteritidis, which the patient had contracted during a recent trip to Mexico.Entities:
