Abstract
Historical and modern advances in the development of an injectable soft tissue substitute are reviewed. Nonbiologic alloplastic and biologic injectables are described. The authors' experiences, as well as those of others, employing presently available materials in terms of specific indications and special techniques are delineated. The search for a safe, effective, easy-to-use, and long-lasting soft tissue substitute continues.Mesh:
