Chyloperitoneum associated with chronic severe sarcoidosis.

M S Cappell1, D Friedman, N Mikhail.

Abstract

A 51-year-old black female with sarcoidosis diagnosed 20 yr earlier developed massive chyloperitoneum and chylothorax. Autopsy demonstrated fibrotic and enlarged thoracic and mesenteric lymph nodes. Sarcoidosis can produce chyloperitoneum by producing intrathoracic nodal fibrosis and lymphatic obstruction.
