Role of cardiac ultrasound in the assessment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

P Spirito1.

Abstract

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a complex disease characterized by a broad spectrum of morphologic and functional abnormalities and by a great variability in its natural history. Cardiac ultrasound has had a great impact on our understanding of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and has become the main tool for diagnosis and patient management. This brief review will summarize the main applications of cardiac ultrasound in this disease.
