Abstract
Frequently, in nature, defective promoters can be resurrected by activator proteins in response to cellular demands. The activators bind to nearby DNA sites for action. Various protein-protein and DNA-protein contacts involving activators, RNA polymerase, and different segments of DNA in and around a defective promoter form a DNA-multiprotein complex (cage) which enhances transcription.Mesh:
