[Extramedullary hematopoiesis with intraspinal extension in thalassemia].

Abstract

The case of a 14-year-old-boy with homozygotic beta-Thalassemia in which an intraspinal extension of the extramedullary focal hemopoiesis gave rise to spinal compression with partial paraplegia is reported. A rapid improvement was observed after blood transfusions.
