Congenital abscence of the left pericardium detected by imaging of the lung: case report.

R D'Altorio, J Y Cano.

Abstract

A patients with congenital absence of the left pericardium had an unusual scintillation camera image of the lung showing perfused lung between the heart and diaphragm and a priminence in the area of the pulmonary artery. This finding was not duplicated in 500 other gamma images of the lung and is probably characteristic of congenital absence of the left pericardium.
