Childbirth after post partum cardiac insufficiency treated with cardiac transplant.

Abstract

A case of pregnancy and childbirth after cardiac transplantation because of previous post partum cardiomyopathy is described. Immunosuppressive therapy with corticosteroids and cyclosporine was maintained during pregnancy. Apart from increased extrasystolic beats and sensitivity to infection the pregnancy was uneventful. One year after birth the infant developed cardiomyopathy.
