Abstract
A description of the life cycle of the tropical botfly, Dermatobia hominis, is presented. The entomology of this parasite is discussed along with the pathologic manifestations of human infestation and a description of the various modes of treatment. A recent case of multiple botfly infestation in a young man during a trip to Central America is reported. A review of the literature including the earliest reported case (1904) is presented, along with a brief discussion of the epidemiology and public health aspects of this problem.Entities:
