Abstract
During the last decade there has been a great revival of interest in neural modelling. Powerful new computational methods have resulted from work in this area and are being applied to an increasing range of medical problems. This paper briefly explains the nature of a neural model and then reviews work in neural computation involving problems in medical informatics (e.g. expert systems) and modelling of psychiatric and neurological phenomena. The state of the art is assessed, and speculation about future developments is given.Entities:
