Abstract
Polymicroelectrode recording of spontaneous activity of somatosensory cortical neurons in cat showed that, during asphyxia, the spike activity of 2-3 neurons reocrded with one microelectrode usually ceased simultaneously. The distance between microelectrodes being 50-200 mkm, the difference in time of survival was significant. Neurons of the visual cortex were more resistant that those of the somatic cortex. The different resistance of neurons against asphyxia is supposed to be due to different microcirculation and different polarization of neuronal membranes.Entities:
