Abstract
The Smith design subtalar joint arthroeresis has been performed at The Podiatry Hospital of Pittsburgh since 1982 for the surgical correction of hypermobile flatfeet in children. The authors review the historical background of the procedure with emphasis on surgical procedure, indications, and complications. The results of a 7-year retrospective study of over 40 cases revealed a 95% success rate with limited complications. Some interesting radiographic changes in the talus and calcaneus are described.Entities:
