Abstract
T-cell mediated delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) is the predominant immune mechanism for clearing tissues of infecting organisms in the primary lesion of syphilis. Here, Stewart Sell and Pei-Ling Hsu propose a strategy for vaccination against syphilis in which selective induction of DTH may be accomplished by using BCG vectored vaccines containing selected DNA sequences for T. pallidum antigens.Entities:
