Abstract
Historical evolution in concepts, indications, application, reduction techniques, and the rehabilitation program and complications of external fixation of the wrist are discussed. Indirect reduction techniques using overdistraction and flexion are recommended. Additional stabilization of the epiphysis allows immediate reduction of overdistraction, thus eliminating the potential complications related to overdistraction. Used with the due attention to detail, external fixation of the wrist is a rewarding and efficient treatment method.Mesh:
