Stress and the gonadal axis in the female rhesus monkey: interface between the immune and neuroendocrine systems.

M Ferin1.

Abstract

This paper is a short review of results obtained in the ovariectomized rhesus monkey relating to the interactions between the immune and adrenal/gonadal axes. The results indicate causative relationships between the activation of the adrenal axis and the acute suppression of the gonadal axis.
