Preventive haemostasis with an inflatable tourniquet for microsurgical distal arteriovenous fistulas for haemodialysis.

P D Bourquelot1.

Abstract

The creation of a distal arteriovenous fistula for haemodialysis is made easier by using preventive haemostasis with an inflatable tourniquet. Preventive haemostasis reduces the duration of the surgery and reduces the arterial spasm provoked by the dissection. When microsurgical techniques and preventive haemostasis are used, it is possible to create fistulas even in very small children.
