Abstract
Trophoblastic cells use several biological strategies to protect the embryo from potential immunological attack by the mother. The most important are the absence of major histocompatibility antigens, the presence of unique non-polymorphic HLA molecules (HLA-G), and the expression of complement regulatory proteins. The role of these factors is analysed in the light of recent studies.Entities:
