[An analysis of rugby injuries].

J J Van Heerden.

Abstract

A survey of 1 385 rugby injuries at Stellenbosch during 1974 - 75 has been analysed to determine the incidence of injuries to the different parts of the body. The results are compared with those of similar surveys. Relationships between types of injuries and game practices, as well as possible precautions, are discussed. Rugby injuries do not appear to occur haphazardly and can therefore be minimised or be made less severe.
