Outgrowth of Bacillus megaterium spores in the presence of nitrate and ammonium ions.

F E Feeherry, H S Levinson.

Abstract

Nitrate or ammonium ions, but not nitrite ion, supplied the nitrogen required for outgrowth of Bacillus megaterium QM B1551 spores through the first cell division. This outgrowth was markedly favored by K(+).
