Do we need clinical pharmacology? A personal view from Eastern Europe.

Despite the fact that clinical pharmacology is already an established discipline in many (developed) countries, in Eastern Europe it has not yet been fully recognized and therefore its development has lagged. On the basis of the WHO recommendations--together with the planned medical educational reform--it would be desirable to establish university departments of clinical pharmacology, not only to provide a better education but also to fulfill the needs of society.
