Clinical consequences of the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial.

B J Ginsberg1, R Mazze.

Abstract

The DCCT has settled the question of the relationship of diabetes control to diabetes complications. By utilizing intensive diabetes therapy, the DCCT was able to reduce the risk of diabetes complications by 50 to 75 percent. As practicing physicians, in the era of health care reform, we must devise methods to bring quality diabetes care to our patients with diabetes in a cost-effective manner. SDM is a system for providing this quality, cost-effective effective care for patients with diabetes.
