Antibodies to defined antigens in the systemic rheumatic diseases.

M Reichlin1.

Abstract

The identification of disease-specific antigen-antibody reactions has provided clinicians with useful adjuncts for clinical diagnosis. An additional benefit of these tests is the information they provide about recognition of subsets and the early recognition of incompletely expressed disease. These tools will become even more valuable if and when effective safe prophylactic interventions come into being for clinical use.
