Pressure sores: aetiology, risk factors and assessment scales.

K Davies.

Abstract

Nurses have traditionally played the key role in preventing pressure sores. Recent thinking, however, suggests that a multidisciplinary approach should be implemented. It is essential that all those involved in pressure sore prevention should possess appropriate knowledge of the aetiology and be aware of the factors that increase the risk of pressure development.
