Abstract
In 169 men from infertile couples were investigated the following sperm parameters--concentration, motility, morphology, in order to find the possible influence of smoking on sperm quality. The percentage of men with deviations from normal sperm motility is significantly higher among smokers (35.65%) in comparison with the non-smokers group (20.04%), p < 0.05. We found a higher percentage of men with changes in sperm morphology among smokers (40.00%) in comparison with non smokers. As for the concentration of spermatozoa, no significant difference was found between the two groups. We came to the conclusion that there exists a trend of increase of the percentage of men with deviations in motility and morphology with the increase of the cigarettes smoked per day.Entities:
