Abstract
In 1990, the authors first started performing myringoplasty with temporal fascia homografts and fibrin glue in the outpatient clinic with consequent reduction in expenditure, time and patient physical stress. Of primary consideration in homogeneous transplantation is the possibility of infection by HIV or other pathogens from donors. The fascial grafts were submitted to treatment with 99% ethyl alcohol and pasteurization resulting in the inactivation of pathogenic viruses. This paper discusses methods, eardrum perforation closing rates, hearing improvement and future application of myringoplasty.Entities:
