Abstract
A 71-year-old woman admitted to our hospital with complaints of progressive dyspnea on exertion and weight loss. Roentgenological examination demonstrated peripheral pulmonary fibrosis and a mediastinal tumor suggesting thymoma. The pathological findings of transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) confirmed pulmonary fibrosis. Moreover, cytomegalic inclusion bodies in TBLB and a high titer of serum CMV IgG antibody suggested pulmonary CMV infection. It is considered that pulmonary fibrosis and CMV infection were coexistent in this patient.Entities:
