Seizure-induced thoracic burst fractures. A case report.

G M McCullen1, C C Brown.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal injuries can arise from muscle contraction during generalized seizure activity. The most frequently documented injuries are thoracic vertebral body compression fractures, proximal femur fractures, and proximal humerus fractures occasionally accompanied by dislocation. A case is presented of a thoracic burst fracture and bilateral proximal humerus fractures secondary to a seizure.
