Laparoscopic wedge biopsy of the liver.

A T Lefor1, J L Flowers.

Abstract

We have created a technique of laparoscopic wedge biopsy of the liver that uses the Endo-GIA instrument. Two staple lines are placed at right angles on the edge of the liver to release a wedge of hepatic parenchyma. We have used this technique as part of a laparoscopic staging procedure for Hodgkin's lymphoma and found it to be simple and rapidly performed.
