Abstract
Extracellular proteins of plant and animal bacteria are important in virulence. Many of these are secreted through the type I sec-independent and the type II sec-dependent pathways. Recently, a third distinct pathway, involved in secretion of Yops, has been discovered in Yersinia. This pathway has homology with pathways in plant pathogenic bacteria that are putatively involved in the secretion of proteins active on plant cells, such as harpin and possibly some avr gene productsMesh:
