Estimation of the number of people in a register from the number of birthdates.

S O Larsen1.

Abstract

The actual number of people in a register may not be known when unique identifiers are not available (perhaps for reasons of confidentiality) and when multiple entries can occur. A method for estimating the number of registered people is presented when dates of birth (day, month and year) are available.
