Abstract
Aged adults are particularly susceptible to cardiac disease, with a high incidence of myocardial infarction (MI) and MI-related mortality. How to treat them is not completely understood, because the major therapeutic trials for MI have studied predominantly younger adults. Moreover, these trials have tended to exclude women and patients with comorbidities, characteristics that are more typical of older cardiac patients. Therefore, whether these trials can be applied to our aged MI patients is unclear. This review analyzes data from earlier trials to better delineate their implications for the elderly MI patients that we frequently treat.Entities:
