Arteriovenous fistula: a rare complication after iliac bone graft.

K Sieunarine1, M M Lawrence-Brown.

Abstract

Arteriovenous fistula, a rare complication arising after iliac bone graft, is reported. The patient presented with symptoms of heart failure. Perforation of the medial iliac wall at the time of bone harvesting most probably caused the fistula. Treatment by balloon occlusion of the fistula via the percutaneous route was successful, thus avoiding a difficult operation.
