Complications of percutaneous feeding tubes.

K P O'Keefe1.

Abstract

Emergency physicians frequently manage patients with percutaneous feeding catheters. These devices are associated with a variety of complications, and often subtle presentations. It is imperative that the emergency physician become knowledgeable in the evaluation of these patients. The physician must be adept at managing current complications and proactive in avoiding future problems, always cognizant of the potential for fatal outcomes.
