Laparoscopic herniorrhaphy. Literature review.

This review outlines the methods of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair emphasising the origins of each type of repair and drawing conclusions on the likely outcome from historical data on open surgery. The debate on whether an open or laparoscopic repair is preferable is outlined, with emphasis that the differences of the two techniques will only be measured by carefully controlled clinical trials.
