Abstract
This report describes the case of a 21-year-old female who presented with localized gingival ulceration that over a period of 4 weeks became generalized, affecting all the buccal gingiva as well as the lower lip. A detailed medical history suggested that the patient was generating the lesions herself. She was monitored for 6 months, during which time additional lesions developed on the scalp and face. Conventional therapy failed to resolve the lesions and the patient was ultimately referred for a psychiatric consultation in view of the similarity of this case with previously reported cases of factitious disease.Entities:
