Degenerative disc disease. A cause for diagnostic dilemma on In-111 WBC studies in suspected osteomyelitis.

The authors present three patients with degenerative disc disease (one asymptomatic patient, one febrile patient without spinal infection, and one patient with spinal infection) and cold vertebral lesions on In-111 WBC imaging. These cases illustrate the diagnostic dilemma degenerative disc disease may pose when interpreting an In-111 WBC study in suspected osteomyelitis.
