Abstract
The abysmal survival rates for the first barking foals described more than 60 years ago were probably due to the cumulative effects of asphyxia on multiple organ systems. Successful treatment of asphyxiated foals requires recognition of periparturient conditions associated with the syndrome and appreciation of the spectrum of clinicopathologic complications that can ensue.Entities:
